Weekend Getaways

A Rainy Weekend Bus Trip That Turned Into My Favorite Getaway

One of my favorite travel memories started with weather that looked terrible on paper. The forecast called for nonstop rain, and I almost canceled my weekend bus trip. Instead, I packed a light jacket, snacks, and a notebook, and decided to go anyway. The ride itself was comfortable and surprisingly relaxing. Watching rain move across small towns, gas stations, and highway exits made the whole journey feel cinematic. Because I did not have to focus on driving, I could enjoy the view, read a little, and let the trip unfold at its own pace. When I arrived, the weather pushed me into cozy cafes, museums, and bookstores I probably would have skipped on a sunny day. The bus ride home felt even better because I knew I had made the right call by staying flexible. That trip taught me that bus travel works best when you leave room for the unexpected. A good trip is not always perfect, but it can still be deeply enjoyable.
